CORDON LIFTED Negotiators called after man enters busy Garda Station in Dublin & threatens members as probe launched

NEGOTIATORS were called in after a man entered a Garda Station in Dublin and threatened members in the early hours of this morning.

The man has since been detained under the Mental Health Act, after entering Blanchardstown Garda Station shortly before 4am.

Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the incident and gardai initiated Operational Command protocol, appointing an On-Scene Commander.

Local Garda negotiators from the National Negotiators Unit, along with the the Armed Support Unit, attended the scene.

A cordon was put in place and roads were closed off to the public while the incident was ongoing.

The incident has since been resolved peacefully following negotiations and the roads have since reopened.

No injuries were reported.

The man has been detained under provisions of Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, 2001.

Gardai described investigations into the incident as “ongoing”.
